Rocawear's Founders

Shawn Corey Carter, popularly known for his stage name as Jay-Z, is one of the many American hip-hop artist that gain popularity because of his music and his talent as a hip-hop artist. Founding of Rocawear

New Owners

In 2006, reports indicated that Jay-Z has become the sole owner of rocawear after following a falling out with co-founder Damon Dash. Dash sold his stake in Rocawear for $30 million to former partner, Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter. In March 2007, Jay-Z sold the rights to the Rocawear brand to Iconix Brand Group, for $204 million.

Iconix Brand Group is a brand management company that licenses brands to retailers and manufacturers primarily in the apparel, footwear, and apparel accessory industries. Its brands are available in such stores as Kohls, Target and JC Penney. From then on, Rocawear still received the same popularity it had when it was still owned by Jay-Z and his partners.
